Birthday paella party

Today is Sue's birthday and as it is so close to mine we decided to combine it and give a paella party. Everybody enjoyed themselves.

Work continues on the house. There is always something to do. We are now repainting our 'great wall' and putting in a new door. Chris is creating a lot of dust with an angle grinder.

Semana Santa 2009

We went to Málaga again this year for the Semana Santa processions.

Every day different groups of devotees carry heavy 'thrones' (tronos in Spanish) through the streets. It lasts until late at night.

The hoods are to hide the faces of penitents and have nothing to do with the klu klux clan

The thrones are so heavy that sometimes up to 150 men are needed to carry them through the streets. It is a great honor to do this but your back and shoulders are broken after this. They sometimes walk up to 8 hours.
