A start has been made: the first materials have arrived for the building of the pool's outer wall. It is always impressive to see the way these truckdrivers manage to put their stuff right on the spot.
I am not going to give any comment on the Holland-Portugal game of yesterday evening...

My mom had broken her thumb a while ago and wasn't able to do any hard manual labour: because she hates standing around doing nothing she gave all our garden furniture another coat of teak oil. Thanx!

And there the digger goes... bye bye!

Paco, our supervisor: Did we put the deep end on the right side???

I think these guys are in need of a very cold drink!

My parents are over this week and have the honour of sharing this special moment with us... here's my dad participating.
You're a champ!

We were trying to move the earth into the corners of the wall where the digger couldn't reach.

But there's no working against one of these arms: after 2 hours we were all overheated, sore and back-broken and left the rest for the machines to finish.

'Are you sure honey that you want a pool?
We can get a Gucci bag for the same price....'

D-DAY

Thursday the 21st of June... Digger-Day.
The day before our constructor phoned us, 'does it suit you if the digger comes tomorrow?'
After waiting for 3 weeks for the /%$=%·%&"·"@! machine?
So in the morning the this lovely orange piece of machinery (same color as my cementmixer and our nationalfootbal team) came up our mountain and started digging...
and digging...
and...a day and a half further we had a huge hole at the back of our house!

Anneke

Anneke came for a week and it was like old times!
A lot of catching up but she couldn't escape being part of the PROJECT...
Yes... beware... everyone helps out as soon as they enter the premises :-)
Oh well, you catch up on your tan in the meantime.
Thanx girl! Was great having you here.

DELAY (again)

Last week we expected the digger to come for the pool...
Hopefully it will come this week and in the meanwhile we continued with the wall outside the house. Filling blocks with concrete and adding another layer of blocks.
I hate waiting!

Chispa Afterparty

We went to the Chispa Afterparty yesterday.
It was for everyone who helped out at the Chispa Festival.
As it happens Richard had his birthday bash the night before so it realy was an afterparty.
A delicious Paella made by Elba picked us up enough again to be able to continue partying.
Great night!

Landscape

The landscape around the river is amazing!

We went to the river today with boy for a little R&R. Boy loves chasing balls we throw into the river. He's a Spanish Waterdog and it shows!

VIEW

So instead of pictures of us building here you have some nice ones of our view from the house...

This week has been a relatively quiet week. No heavy building activities.
Chris spent a day in the water supply pit to connect electricity and to put in lights.
We cleaned and cleared the whole back area to be able to mark out the pool.
We needed to set out 1 meter more than the actual pool size to be dug out. Here you see an impression how it is going to be. We went to the pool constructor and chose light green tiles and a soft grey rim around the pool. Exciting!! The offer they had made included a dolphin and a meander rim in tiles as well and we said that we did not want it. It is going to cost the construction company more now because the tile-factory throws in the dolphin and the rim for free! Now they have to buy extra tiles...
